History: Eliza Pickard was born in Markham Township, a daughter of Thomas, a shoemaker who came to Canada in 1819. On 27 May 1828 Thomas purchased Lot 3, Concession 9, Esquesing Township. Eliza married John Howson, the 7th son of John and Elizabeth (Foster) Howson. They had one son named Thomas. Eliza died in January 1834, aged 22 years, 5 months, and was buried on her father's farm. There is possibly an infant buried with her. [by Betty Brownridge]
