History:  Eliza Pickard was born in Markham Township, a daughter of Thomas, a shoemaker who came to Canada in 1819.  On 27 May 1828 Thomas purchased Lot 3, Concession 9, Esquesing Township.  Eliza married John Howson, the 7^th son of John and Elizabeth (Foster) Howson.  They had one son named Thomas.  Eliza died in January 1834, aged 22 years, 5 months, and was buried on her father's farm.  There is possibly an infant buried with her.    [by Betty Brownridge]
