History: Georgetown's Wesleyan Methodists built a chapel at the end of a laneway off Main Street which became known as Wesleyan Street. It opened in October 1841. The congregation was a branch of the original Wesleyans established in 1821 at the corner of Charles Kennedy's property on Trafalgar road. The wooden church at the end of Wesleyan Street was replaced by a brick one in 1876. It is now a restaurant.
